Junkie 03-18-2014 06:08 PM

FYI, we have taken several bone stock V's into the 11.7-11.8 range. Thats paper filter stock

re-rx7 03-18-2014 06:36 PM

Exactly. The V has a great power curve, as such the car runs like a lighter weight car. Joe's V pulled slightly on Vic's GS... stock vs stock. I dont see a stock or even tuned by god Coyote running with a GrandSport, thus it wont run with a V either.

Ive race a few vettes one stock 09 and another 07 with intake and catback auto. I beat both. The strong part of the coyote is the 1:1 in 4th.

Ummmm.....no. 5th gear is 1:1

4th gear is 1.69:1

You basically just killed your whole argument

Junkie 03-18-2014 10:11 PM

lol @ thinking a 1:1 high gear is going to determine the winner.

There is a little experience posted, and a fuck load of bench racing and misinformation here.

I didnt say it would determine a winner. I said that is its strong point. If I posted misinformation on the V please inform me. Every where Ive researched says 440-460 auto stock #'s. 4200lbs min.

Is there any type or church service on a Tuesday night?

To me, 4th gear is the strongest gear in my car. It feels like it pulls the hardest out of all the gears. The way I think about it, getting as close to a 1:1 ratio is the trick. True 1:1 is a lot of stress on the motor. Getting close to, but not at, 1:1 still means the gearing/trans is still doing the majority of the work, but you are still utilizing the motor as much as possible while keep stress down.

Better hope steve doesn't put a DFW5.0s sticker on that V, that's like 300hp right there alone. I've got 2 of them and my stock 2v makes like 800rwihp (rear wheel imaginary horsepower).:poker:

Zeek 03-19-2014 02:53 AM

I need to run a Blower 5.0 ......anyone......anyone?

Why not run a stock shelby?

Dominic Toretto 03-19-2014 07:58 AM

Should we expect videos of this race by Monday?

Looks like you're going to have to hit up a meet for that one.

Just sucks right now with work. I work 9pm to 5:30am Tuesday-Sunday. Hopefully they hire a new guy soon and we can train him fast so I can get back to Sun-Thurs. The meets are super fun. And I need to drag some people! (Mustangs)

I don't blame you abit. Stripper cars are fun when racing only. Other than that it's boring. I like my options and full weight. Just make more power!

Zeek 03-19-2014 09:58 AM

I'm sure when I go out to the meet I'll be removing the easy stuff. Like passenger seat. That's like 65lbs right there.

Grandpa 03-19-2014 10:22 AM

LOL, not me. Full weight. I even added weight with the babyseats in the back! lol. It's just not that important to me. If I lose, no big deal, it's still fun!

Passenger seat and skinnies will give you a car length or two in a race... pretty noticeable imo. Ask vic for sure, but I think thats about right.

Every 100lbs is about equal to a tenth in ET and/or one car length.

BERT 03-19-2014 11:52 AM

So when are these races happening?

Right, but skinnies are less rolling resistance and rotational weight. It skews that rule more so than just dead weight in the car.

Donnie and I will race at some point soon. We all always end up acting like stupid teenagers at some point when we go cruising. lol

LOL, same here. But then I have to remind myself I'm not in the '89 anymore and I'm slow :(

re-rx7 03-19-2014 12:46 PM

Dfwls.com is this sites new name. Yea my lack of experience. I've ran the vettes that are so fast stock. I beat them. All I have is a tune. What is fung though is a 20k mustang getting compared to 40k dollar gm product.

Im payin 22 k for my ls2 car with 21k miles and no sales taxes... few grand more for the HREs. whats a 5.0 with 20 k miles cost? Seems more comparing a 35 k mustang to a 45 k vette... and besides pure acceleration, thats qhere the comparison stops.

The mstang was never intended to be the vettes competition. The camaro was the stangs competition. Yea so a new mustang with warranty vs a old rattle plastic box. I drove my friends 07 and 30min was more then enough. The 90's accord interior was just as nice. I realize something just now. Gm build great niche cars but when it's come to actually making money they make shit cars. Weird?

Grandpa 03-19-2014 01:47 PM

Arguing cost of make and model is silly in my opinion, especially in regards to modified vehicles. Choose your weapon and make it the best you can to fit your ideals of performance.

re-rx7 03-19-2014 02:00 PM

Mine is idea with just a tune.
