Yes Dave, your car is the fastest on this site, I agree with Steve on that. Its not "sad" as you say, this just isnt a site full of Lambos and GTRs with millionares like DR is.

I know plenty of fast mustangs..im sure ronnie would drag me..

unreal 01-14-2013 08:10 PM

If I put 1/2 of what I put into the vette into the mustang it would run 8s.

Mustangs rock. My vette does make 2.5x the power the 5.0 does at the moment. Hopefully I can fix that soon enough.

Im not sure how, he doesnt make that much more power than you on kill and he makes less on his street setup... His car weighs more even though you have the heaviest C6 on the planet, you have a couple hundred lbs less weight to carry than he do.

Dave just down plays his car because he doesnt like to race anymore. If he does it might break and he's tired of it sitting at the shop.:025:

unreal 01-15-2013 09:39 AM

My Ysi is only hitting 11psi because of belt slip which sucks. I really want to see 15-16psi for my street setup. Still makes 905-915 depending on how much the belt slips on a run. Once I swap to a larger crank pulley hoping to pick up 3-4psi and a bit more power.

Yeah.. Mine peAks at 18 i think... 10 rib with dP direct drive.. But very low timing conservative tune.. Not trying to break 1k.

do you have 8 or 10 rib? Crank pulley will help a lot, as does their sandblasted "renegade" pullies... Getting 20+ psi out of my dad's YSi on his Stang and it isnt even pullied that hard yet. Have a pulley waiting to go on it (if the fuel pump will support it) that should get it up to around 26 psi.

unreal 01-15-2013 06:30 PM

8 rib and direct drive. Currently 2.85" upper and a 7.25" lower. Need to goto a 8.0"/3.15". Elevation also kills boost, and my heads are huge so that lowers boost. They flow 410+cfm and I have a big nasty cam. With stock heads/cam it would be 20+ easy.

410 is sick, thats like race car heads for a Mustang... :drool2:

an 8 lower with a 3 upper will make a huge smile on your face... should be around 18-20 psi Id think. I was making about 27 psi with that setup on my 408 about 10 years ago.

race car shit...

i have a 4" upper and some street car heads :)

unreal 01-15-2013 09:57 PM

Prochargers have a bigger stepup so a 4.0" PC pulley is like a 3.0" vortech. Your heads are almost the same as mine. Street car stuff :)

I'd be up for that. I'd like to see how my n/a minimal bolt on 5.0 compares to other n/a Vettes.

unreal 01-16-2013 12:25 PM

Sadly my car is far from N/A.

faztcobra 01-16-2013 01:13 PM

Yeah - I didn't read all of the thread before I responded. ha ha. I just run on street tires and probably couldn't but a 12 flat with my traction limited self. But with proper traction, my car has an 11.4 in it, maybe an 11.3. It'd be fun to run other cars with similar capabilities.

unreal 01-16-2013 03:57 PM

Vette went 11.1@129 when it made 1/2 the power it does now the one pass before it broke at axle. That was at 4500ft and 8k+ DA. Should be a bit quicker now.

Without juice/boost, that MPH is only a pipe dream for me. I might could hit 121, give or take a mph.

unreal 01-16-2013 07:13 PM

Juice it. Local 5.0 runs bottom 10s up here with headers/intake/tune/gears and a 175 shot.

I had a NX wet kit back in the day on my 2000 GT. It was fun. I remember when I first got it, I'd spray anything that moved...Honda Civic with a fart can or what ever :rotflmao: This car is really just a fun n/a daily driver. It's faster than 98% of cars out there and there will always be someone with "more". But it is tempting...

there is only ONE problem with nitrous...

my car made 490 rwhp NA.. and 650 on bottle.. after the first few times i ran on bottle, i did a few NA pulls and i thought i broke the car because it felt slow as balls lol. I was seriously mad that the FIRST time i used my nitrous i broke it..

Threw it on the dyno and just as always put down 492 rwhp.. it's like a drug:) and when you are OFF the bottle your shit feels broken...

I thought your car felt really strong NA even with both of us fatties in it. I never got to ride in it again on the bottle, but I bet it was insane. I need a ride with the new set up! :D

with the added weight of the iron block and both of us fatties.. my car doesnt make enough HP to move:) i bet a bolt on civic would drag me:)

How much is nitrous these days? I had a 10# bottle back in the day and I think it was like $30 to fill, if that. It wasn't overly expensive, but I've heard it's a lot these days.

3.75-4 dollars a lb, at least that's what it was last year, I sold my car in June, so prices coulda gone up I guess.

Yeah if you compare it to a fully loaded GT cause I got mine 2012 GT for 28k out the door. I don't think a slightly used C6 will go for that price.

I got my 08 3LT full bolt on z51 w/ 29k miles on it for around 32k OTD. I was happy with the price because it's super clean.

2005 vette vs 2012 brembo final match up

Well, finally got down to Austin to visit my brother. We took the 2005 C6 vette (Z51) and my 2012 Brembo GT out on some fantastic twisties. Austin has some great roads. These roads have super tight hairpins with much variation vertically. I was completely impressed with the way my car handled. With my mods (nothing too drastic), I couldn't detect any obvious differences in handling ability between my car and the vette. The 5.0 left me with a grin for the rest of the day. We even got a drag race in at a country stoplight. Dead even up to 80 before we cut it out. With a CAI and tune these cars are every bit as fast as a 2005 vette, at least up to 80.

Awesome. I LOVE taking my Stang out into the countryside for the backroads. It's so much fun.

jpgraham65 03-25-2013 09:02 PM

Do you have any suggestions for good roads around here?

I have a whole route that goes from McKinney to Sherman. We will actually be having a GTG soon using this route for our Spring Country Cruise.

jpgraham65 03-25-2013 09:17 PM

I'll be there.

Gosh I guess I'm kind of late to this... I would say that is right on par. A lightly modded 5.0 is right on par with a c5 z06 or ls2. It will take just a few more mods to beat an ls3. My modded 11 5.0 beat my buddy's stock ls2 and lost by a hair to my other buddy's c5 z06. I say it's definitely a driver's race. Once I got the ls3, the friend with the c5z thought he would walk on me, but from 50-120 I had about 4-6 cars on him.

I can't believe there are so many other vette owners on here. I will say I do miss my mustang... the interior is much better, better quality, a lot more comfortable and in my opinion, a much more practical daily driver.

Lowered Vettes ride better than any Lowered Mustang I've been in... Since I slam all my cars, I guess that changes the comfort advantage the Mustang has... I think Corvettes ride better than any sports car I've driven yet.
