What's the added benefit Tim? Would like to test one on mine

BLK2012GT 07-03-2013 07:09 PM

Test results at the top.

I dont know much about intakes but would the metal intake not get hot after the car has been running for a while making for increased IAT?

That's what the nitrous is for. :pepper:

Increased airflow into the TB. Car now has a 4" to 4".

Argumentative but technically, yes. Enough to worry about? No. K&N, and many other companies, offer an aluminum version for appearance reason. In fact; the Steeda kit that was on the car was 40% aluminum to begin with.

Midnight11 07-03-2013 07:22 PM

So that cai will prob be most beneficial with an aftermarket tb

Selcouth 07-03-2013 07:23 PM

Nice numbers

At least the car has some kind of airflow through the engine. The GTO's have none and are well sealed with the hood down making most aftermarket intakes useless. Pretty much the only one worth a damn is a Svede which is an over the radiator intake, takes 4+ months to get, and requires hacking shit up.

You got it. We're also testing the FRPP TB with good results. We see a good power package with this in the future.

Hmm the ford one is 90mm correct?

Correct. But Jeff has the 85mm though both would see a 4" kit. Also the custom port on the BOSS intake is where it's at. The CAI was a compliment. I'll look to post the graphs tomorrow.

Midnight11 07-03-2013 08:03 PM

Ok cool, ill look to get this done too

DirtyD 07-03-2013 08:26 PM

What about coating the intake to help with heat absorption? I assume that isn't finished form?...

JDBishopArts 07-03-2013 08:28 PM

The air doesn't spend enough time in the tube for a significant enough temp increase.

BLK2012GT 07-03-2013 08:31 PM

You get what you see Derek as far as the tubing goes. My car isn't fully tune yet at least not on pump gas and nitrous.

We can finish the CAI pretty much any color that you want. Right now we are focused on finishing up all the tuning on the car so jeff can start playing with it. We are 95% done on the e-85 tune, Then we move on to pump gas and torco tune, Then nitrous time!!!! :pepper:

BlueBolt 07-03-2013 09:05 PM

Awesome work guys. Hopefully I can get in on some of this before too long

DirtyD 07-03-2013 09:43 PM

Sweet.

Josh, I realized that, but some insulation is better than no insulation.

STROKD 07-03-2013 11:06 PM

Pretty Impressive... it going to be out Friday?

BLK2012GT 07-03-2013 11:12 PM

Hope so

TrueStreetTim 07-04-2013 11:12 AM

So here's our overall gain via TSM ported BOSS/CAI combo from baseline to mods. A solid gain through most of the range. *Again; no additional tuning & still on E

BLK2012GT 07-04-2013 12:08 PM

Tim whenever you get a chance show the tq graph too. That had some impressive gains throughout the graph.

fordplay 07-05-2013 07:33 AM

Does the ported boss counter the torque loss? And why the boss intake over the cobra jet intake?

Is the Cobra jet intake available yet?

Probably price for one reason, and last I heard, the CJ intake still has yet to be released for public sale. Stupid FRPP. :nutkick:

You work with what you've got. And Jeff already had the BOSS. I'll look to include the TQ today sometime.

JesseJames5.0 07-05-2013 12:20 PM

The boss intake im made of a compositematerial: just like the stock one is you think you do the same gains on a stock intake manifold that was ported

TrueStreetTim 07-05-2013 02:41 PM

Boss has some portable aspects to it unlike the factory intake.

BLK2012GT 07-05-2013 08:53 PM

Here's a graph to show the gain of tq it made through out the graph. It picked up as much as 20 rwtq in spots.

Stangmaster281 07-05-2013 10:04 PM

Would you get more hp by switching to a cobra jet manifold with a single blade throttle body?

A bolt-on car you'll see next to nothing. The CJ intake gives up even more TQ than the BOSS and see's HP gains at an even higher RPM (around 7500+) than the BOSS. Jeff's car.....yes.
