Stripes on a 3.7?

Just curious how the general public thought about stripes on a 3.7. Will it be bashed as a poser of the gt500? Have you ever seen stripes on a 3.7?

Dominic Toretto 06-21-2013 09:17 AM

That's not posing at all. Posing would be putting a Cobra emblem on your car. Stripes can be on any car with any trim level. It's just an accessory. What color stripes are you thinking?

I am all for doing whatever you like, it's your car and screw what anyone else says :)

I knew someone who took their v6 Camaro and made it look exactly like an SS, they even went to the extent of putting a custom plate.. "NOTNSS" People gave him a good amount of crap, but it was what he liked and at the end of the day, it was respected :)

Dominic Toretto 06-21-2013 09:28 AM

V6 and SS Camaros can look exactly alike from the factory in most cases anyway. Those RS package cars look identical to SS except for the badges.

Speaking of that, you can get stripes on V6 Camaros and Challengers from the factory. Not poserish at all.

Ya its just stripes. I would definitely say you would be trying to be a poser if you got some Shelby lettering or put a cobra badge on the car.

I have a white 3.7. I was going to put stripes on it myself but I chickened out and ended up just putting hash marks on the hood.

Oxford14Stang 06-22-2013 10:00 PM

It'd look okay Nate, depending on what color you plan on doing. Anything in mind?

Selcouth 06-22-2013 10:53 PM

Who gives a shit what people think. It's your car do as you please cause you are the one that has to look at every day.

03MachMe 06-22-2013 11:21 PM

If you like it do it. I have the boss stripes and have only heard good things about it

Stripes are good, and it's only posing if you put badges on it.

I was thinking like dark gray stripes would look good with my black exterior - and nothing to fancy.

Ghost stripes are always cool.

Here's my old '05, with matte black Shelby stripes on it. Everyone seemed to dig the stealth factor.

Stripes would looks good bud, I like the stealth look on stripes

Like 03MachMe I just had Boss-type stripes installed (at Big Worm Graphics in Ft. Worth- nice guys). I chose to put "GT" at the top of the hockey stripes- so no confusion that its not a Boss 302 (almost went with "S197" on the top).

Post pics once they're installed!

S197 would of been sick! and Nate, the ghost stripes would be perfect

downtime! 06-28-2013 01:16 AM

S197 stopped being the body designation in 2009. 2010 and up cars are SN10's.

Never knew there was an actual body designation.

downtime! 06-28-2013 02:21 AM

Yep, that's the internal code Ford uses to specify the body style. SN95, S197, now SN10. The new car will be the S550 I believe.

DirtyD 06-28-2013 02:25 AM

Aren't the we still the S197 chassis though?

Technically speaking, yes and no. Some things bolt up, and some things don't. As a comparison, the Fox chassis existed basically from 1978 (Fairmont), until 2004 in the New Edge cars, but they changed the designation several times during those years. You can put a Cobra IRS into an '82 GT and it's damn near a bolt it though.

seville 07-06-2013 05:59 PM
