Attn all members: event idea.

Okay guys, the end of the year and cold weather are coming soon. The weather is nice enough right now for us to have one more club event.

So for an idea for an event, I have a planned out route through the countryside between McKinney and Sherman. It's an awesome drive through the scenic countryside with lots of twists and turns. A couple of stops along the way for photoshoot opportunities as well. I've been on this route several times for a charity cruise and it's a blast to say the least.

The idea would be to meet up on a Saturday or Sunday morning meeting in the parking lot of TrueStreet Motorsports. We leave and enjoy the cruise. We have lunch in Sherman. Those who want to leave are free to do so, or turn around and do the route again ending in McKinney where we started.

The route is about 61 miles of fun twisty curvy roads.

So, who would be in for an event like this?

DirtyD 11-27-2012 07:43 PM

I'm down, as long as its after school is done, not during the week, and not while I'm gone for Christmas.

Bearded Banger 11-27-2012 07:47 PM

I would be interested too. Sounds like fun.

Midnight11 11-27-2012 07:52 PM

I'm thinking the 17th or 18th depending on what works best for everyone. I want as many members to show up as possible since it will most likely be the last event for the year. We still need a good group photo too.

It's a blast! This route really made me rethink how I was approaching mynext Mustang. Rather than making as much possible, I want to make good power and the car handle really well for the twisties. Most of my car hobby has always been about straight line racing thinking I"d never enjoy the turns...man was I wrong. Drag racing is cool and all, but I MUCH more prefer the twisties now!

03MachMe 11-27-2012 08:22 PM

I can do those dates

juiced86stang 11-27-2012 09:56 PM

I'm in. I love driving that area. A nice Sunday drive would be best for me but a Saturday will work as well.

merlinmol 11-27-2012 10:08 PM

I might go depending on what day and time we are looking at.

PLASMAN 11-27-2012 11:20 PM

Im in too

Phuck Phace 11-28-2012 12:42 AM

17th and 18th?
What month are you talking about?

December. I meant the 15th and 16th. I didn't change the calendar when I looked. lol.

Really, we can do it any weekend you guys want to. I just want to make it possible for as many members as possible to make it. It's going to be the last event of the year and most likely the last car event until Spring before it gets real cold.

Phuck Phace 11-28-2012 12:59 AM

If we do Saturday I may hit up the Casino afterwards and win some money for blower cams.
Either day I'm down, the 17th is my birthday so I'll be off then too, I'll be turning 18.

Turning 18 for the 12th time? lol.

03MachMe 11-28-2012 01:11 AM

I can do the 15th but have tickets for the game on the 16th

11bangbang 11-28-2012 01:11 AM

I think I have drill that weekend...if not, I'm down.

Would the 9th work better? I'd like Nick be able to attend and he can only do it on a Sunday. He did after all get us this place so he should be able to attend. lol

03MachMe 11-28-2012 01:17 AM

I can do the 9th but I think there was something else planned that day IIRC

Bearded Banger 11-28-2012 01:39 AM

I can't do the 9th. I'm out or town.

pohnjarker 11-28-2012 04:37 AM

damn, i dont get in town until the 19th...I miss all the fun :(

BLK2012GT 11-28-2012 09:41 AM

One way. Its the last event of the year and its alot of fun. There is two breaks in there too for the meek. Lol

By the way, you guys dont have to go both directions. We will end the first leg right off of 75. You can split off from there to head back or have lunch with us. Whatever you want to do. :)

blownaltered 11-28-2012 03:20 PM

Well that's a long ass drive. Once you have a better idea of when I will know if I'm in. Any thing after the 16th I'm out, won't be able to drive a standard for 2 months.

Isn't that kinda the point of having a cool car? To drive it! Plus, you've got a convertible which is even better for cruising in the countryside! It will be the last time until Spring until you can drop the top to cruise without getting pneumonia! lol.

I know but I still have a small oil leak and not sure how bad it is. Oh yeah and I need hood pins so I'm not worried about my hood blowing off. Don't mind the long drive, it sounds like fun just got a few issues I need to take care of.

You've got a few weeks to get it straightened out. You should definetely try to make it since it will be the last time you'll make it to an event before your surgery.

As for your hood, I'd suggest making a thread in the Late Model Restoration forum and ask Tony what he's got to help you out. Some hood pins and a safety latch would give you a great piece of mind.

Remember guys, as a member you get a discount with our vendors. They are hear to help and we've got a great bunch of vendors here. Be sure to give them your buisness! :)

It's a ways for me too since I'm in Wylie. But to get to any event like this we have to get out into the countryside. No traffic, great scenery, tons of twists and turns. The first time I did this, I had my reservations as well, then I did it and it was a BLAST! Plus, you get to do it with members from the club with the same interest. It's a win/win. :)

Didn't think about that. I will do that. Also need to get with Clint about the oil pan gasket to see what he can do.

Would like to make this one to meet you guys as that is great drive, but i leave for Colorado that Friday.

I'm going to have to agree with the majority here though, 60 miles? Truestreet, CnC, the tracks, most meets....all are at least 60 miles away from me one way, just look at it like a 45 minute to hour drive. Bring a lady friend so you don't get bored :derp:
