How fast is a C6 Z06?

Just ran one in Mexico with my KB'12. 60-140. We went twice. First time I got the jump and he couldn't catch me. Second run, he got the jump and I couldn't reel him in. This was on my street tune which makes about 30 less than my track tune. I don't know what his mods were if any but it wasn't overly loud or anything. It had aftermarket wheels/ brakes but probably not much else. Should I be encouraged or discouraged? Lol! We were pretty much dead nuts even after the initial hit.

Vettes are high to mid 11 sec cars stock. On the hwy the weight and aero advantage is huge. Id say be proud. It probally wasnt stock.

Incorrect.

With a good driver, stock C6 Z06's can be rowed to 10.90's. Ranger did many times to prove it could be done. If it was modded like cam and exhaust, you would have got walked on the big end.

Z06 > ANY mustang.

Stock tires? I can see it with tires but that must have been a hell of driver mod. LOL New shelbys seem to pick on them and the V's. I saw one on the Dyno at PRT's and it made 510 on a mustang dyno with exhaust tune cam.

downtime! 06-01-2013 11:52 AM

I haven't found a Z06 yet that can hang with me. Not saying there aren't any out there that aren't faster than me, just that out of the 10 or so that have chosen to pick a fight, they did not bring enough.

Junkie 06-01-2013 11:52 AM

Lol at new Shelby's picking on V's

Seen a few vids of it happening. Your V makes alot but that does not mean they all do. Most Ive seen make around 700+ and weigh around 2-3 Hundo more then a shelby.

Doug1227 06-01-2013 11:57 AM

This was highway, so not too much required for a driver mod. I didn't notice any lags between shifts for him, so he was rowing them pretty well. I'm sure at the track I would have got him since I can hook and with my auto it should leave hard. I was mostly thinking about what kind of mph they run at the track since we were really close. I figure I was around 580 or so rwhpmon my street tune.

Was the Vette silver by chance?

Doug1227 06-01-2013 12:01 PM

No. Black with black wheels. I was on 121 coming from Cars and Coffee. Not sure if that's where he was coming from. I'm sure there are tons of black on black ones.

Luke 06-01-2013 12:20 PM

I'd be pleased with the runs considering what they cost and that you're doing it in a GT. We can't all afford a C6 Z06 but to be able to keep up with/beat one is impressive.

So what's the trick to getting vettes to race, when I had my Cobra and LX it was a miracle to actually get one to do anything.

STROKD 06-01-2013 12:24 PM

Doug, stock, they should run around 11.2-11.5 @ 125ish. Since it wasnt loud, it wasnt cammed... cams in the LSx cars wakes them the hell up and makes them sound pissed off.

Sounds like you had a couple good runs, did you get to the track last night?

Yea with a shit ton of miles

JDBishopArts 06-01-2013 12:28 PM

If I could have found a Z06 for under 40k with a warranty that's what I would be driving. Best bang for the buck car on the market hands down. Good runs.

Luke 06-01-2013 12:30 PM

I had to go check, lol. Looks like a low mileage '07 is right around $50k, I paid $33k for mine so I'd say he has a little to spare even with the blower, but I see your point.

25-40k is a shit ton?

I paid 30k for my 08 coupe in 2009 with 16k miles on it, and it made 650 rw.

Vettes dont hold value for shit because they are over priced and dealers give them away (the right ones do anyway)... so it's easy to pick up a nice one at a cheap price. Ask Steve, he looked for a while, he knows they are all over cheap as chips. I love Mustangs, but Id rather have a lightly used Vette for half the price (vs a Shelby, Id never be happy in a stock 5.0).

u are checking the wrong spots... I was looking at 40-43k for 07-08s last year... a NICE 5.0 or Boss is about the same price

The C7 coming out is gonna make the prices drop HARD core due to too many for sale and no buyers...

This took me 7 seconds.

This car is epic too, wants 50k for 1200rw...

I don't know where a "nice 5.0" is $40+, mine's a '13 premium with all options other than Nav and Recaros and I bought it in April of '12. The Boss I can understand but I was also somewhat referring to owning a brand new car, not one that's 6/7 years old with 50k miles or more.

I hear ya, Im used to older cars, brand new cars are cool and all, but they are too slow, which requires mods, more money, time, and then a blown warranty. so besides the paint which can be buffed, there really isnt any reason to buy a new car unless you just are that type of person. Its only NEW for about 16 seconds. :)

nice as in loaded up with shit. I looked and the ones I wanted were all mid to high 30s. No I didnt get a last year deal like Steve or other people cause I wasnt looking seriously, just what I gathered in my few weeks of research.

The whole point is the prices are a lot closer than people think. Just cause you see a 20 y/o kid in a C6Z doesnt mean he paid 70-100 grand for it... :insane:

Doug1227 06-01-2013 12:47 PM

No, didn't make it out last night. I'll get there eventually! I don't think getting mine to trap 128-130 on my track tune should be too hard based on what I'm reading....

Doug1227 06-01-2013 12:49 PM

I've got well under $40k in my car total....

high 20s low 30s sounds about right if you hook well. At 577 rw I went 128 mph in about 3600 lbs... and I was sliding around a lot not making momentum. You are a little heavier but will have better traction and an auto...

The truth of what you said makes me want to kill myself, lol. I got rid of my 03 Cobra which was quite a bit quicker and WAY cheaper for this car just to start form scratch. This is my first new car and will probably be my last for a long time.

I like newer for the warranty. This is my first newer car but im used to the older stuff. Couldnt own a Vette. Insurance is too high for me and it just doesnt suit me.

I could give a fuck about rare. Unless you are rich nothing is rare. I like the mustang because its relatively comfy, has a decent trunk, and makes gd power that doesnt cost an arm and a leg to acquire.

FYI, insurance is cheaper on a Vette than a Mustang.:happy160: Unless you yourself have like 10 tickets or accidents. The insurance is based off the general population as a whole, and Mustang owners wreck and get stolen more often than Vette owners (since more of them are older and driven less).

Insurance on my 08 Vette in 09 (when I bought it) was 40 bucks a month LESS than my 04 Cobra. lmfao... The vette was worth about 10 grand more resale value and 15-18 more KBB too.

a Cobra stands out in the fleet of new 5.0s at a car show... Thats all I was getting at. I like to be different, not just like my 15 friend's cars. Thats why when all my friends HAD Cobras, I had bling fucken Orange, to at least stand out... I didnt go buy a black or white one and put black wheels on it.

Edit, also, my wife's car is rare, its cheap and gets a shit ton of compliments. Its also faster than a stock 5.0. :)

My buddy had one of those orange cobras. Supposed to be pretty rare from what he said. I havent been to a meet in sometime. I know if i do I will blend in which sucks but with imports it was the same save for my rx7.

Oh I agree there for sure. A C6 and new 5.0 are very similar pricing though.
