Joining the club....

Finally got tired of talking about it....picked up a new 13' GT Premium yesterday. So far I really like it, but I've only put about 100 miles on it. It had the exact options I was looking for except for the Brembos, but the price was so right I decided to forego the brakes...maybe I'll add some later down the road. Figured I'll be changing the springs anyway. I do like these wheels a lot more than those black daisy looking ones that seem to be on a lot of the GT Premiums.....

Congrats and welcome

Welcome to the board Rreemo! Very nice Stang you picked up there brother. :)

In my opinion, the Brembos aren't worth the money anyways if you aren't tracking the car. The stock brakes stop almost just as well, they will just fade a lil sooner at the track. On the street, you will never notice a difference except the looks if you are looking for them. I had the big Brembos on my SRT8 and they were very, very expensive to replace stuff and hard to find in stock anywhere.

Welcome, alot of white 5.0's in this forum. Im thinking the texas heat has something to do with it.

Thanks for the feedback on it Steve....I started realizing it was more of a "for looks" thing with me too, I'm not going to be tracking this car...I might get it out Northstar a few times, but that's different anyway. But if I change my mind, this does appear to be a good option for the money - http://www.americanmuscle.com/svt-brakekit-0509gt.html

Not so much the heat for me...it's where I live, out in the country where everything is so damned dusty....and this really is going to be my daily. My 911 was a really cool darker blue, beautiful color out in the sunlight, but man I could wash that thing and put it straight in the garage, and it would be dirty (covered with dusty/dirt) the next morning if I didn't put the car cover on. Hell....I had to wash the car cover about once a month, otherwise it would leave crap all over the car....and the cover was always on it inside...never outside.

I can relate, i had a black car once and never again would i purchase another. White stays clean 90% of the time and weekly cleanups are not hard to manage to the keep the paint looking good.

Nice ride and welcome!

DirtyD 08-09-2012 05:11 PM

Welcome fellow '13 owner! :)

I do like those wheels. Had I gotten a premium, those would've been my choice if I didn't go Brembo.

If you are wanting to install an exhaust in the future, let me know. I know the tricks to the trade now after Nic and I's fiasco the other night. :o

Quake5.0 08-09-2012 08:10 PM

Welcome, and a that is a very nice mustang! Did you sell the 911?

Thanks, I will do that. Springs will be first on my list but I'm sure exhaust won't be too far behind.

Yes, unfortunately I did sell the 911...it really was a cool car, one of the most unique I've ever owned and a lot of fun to drive. However it ran it's course...I decided it was time to get into something a little more practical with some creature comforts (and much cheaper insurance! :)).

Grandpa 08-10-2012 01:44 PM

Are you going to keep those wheels or get something else?

jarheadtex 08-12-2012 07:12 PM

I'm planning to keep them for the time-being...I've got some ideas on what I might eventually want to do with it longer term, but earlier-on I'm probably only going to lower it a little and do an axle-back....and just drive it.

It's always inside....even at work. ;)

DirtyD 08-13-2012 12:57 PM

I think you should paint everything but the actual face/spokes of the rims black. IMO, would look sweet. Make the wheels pop more.

SNEAKY 08-13-2012 01:30 PM

Plasti coat everything that unbolts

Grandpa 08-13-2012 03:49 PM

Whomever is designing the wheels on all 2013 Fords needs to be fired because they are all butt ass ugly. The worst being those flower wheels on the new Stangs. lol

DirtyD 08-13-2012 04:26 PM

The ones that Rreemo has and the Brembos are by far the best looking wheels offered on the GT. Boss and GT500 are another story.

I would kill for a set of the nickel/machined Boss LS wheels...

Grandpa 08-13-2012 04:47 PM

In my opinion, they are okay, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get a set. They are definetely better than other options Ford has out there. I think the stock wheels on my 12 were FAR better than anything available on a 13 and I still couldn't get those off my car fast enough. Haha.

Welcome aboard, Rreemo! Hope you enjoy your car to the fullest.
