Its sorta ugly, I hope that it looks better in person... Depending on price and MPG, I honestly would consider a new SVO for a daily.:love62:

Grandpa 08-15-2013 10:46 PM

Yeah, I'll reserve judgement for when I see it in person.

BLK2012GT 08-15-2013 11:25 PM

Yup I agree

JDMLOL 08-15-2013 11:31 PM

The source doesn't seem very credible. C'mon, loose 400lbs? Lol.

Lose

DirtyD 08-16-2013 09:16 AM

Considering a smaller chassis, the new IRS, aluminum body panels (not sure which) and a smaller body, 400 lb is very doable. That's going to be sick being back in Fox territory in weight with these power levels.

The new car is so much larger than a Fox, the smaller size and weight will be like buying a 400rw Foxbody that gets 25 mpg. Pretty damn awesome. Just needs a .5 overdrive swap and cruise at 80 at 1300 rpm and get 30+ mpg!

Really skeptical to see how they lose a full 5inches and keep a backseat. I fit fine at 6foot even. My brother was cramped as hell at 6foot 3inches. The current car is barely a 2+2 especially with me driving. Losing 400lbs puts it at weighing less than a Corvette C7. I'll believe all this when/if I see it.

The backseats are supposedly to keep insurance costs lower. Ever looked in the back of a DB9? It's literally two indentions for asses but nowhere to put legs, same exact reason but if you drive a DB9 I wouldn't think you'd be too worried about insurance costs.

Rebelracer568 08-17-2013 08:25 AM

Not a fan of what they look like so far. But its awesome there going to be lighter and faster

Oxford14Stang 08-17-2013 10:47 AM

11-14 ftw

JDMLOL 08-17-2013 11:29 AM

I'm going to be thoroughly upset if this new one runs circles around our cars.

You have to kinda expect it though. Every year tech improves, power increases etc.

re-rx7 08-17-2013 03:02 PM

On the track most likely it will. Drag strip it's hard to beat live rear axle.

Unless you remember cars of the mid '70s through '80s. :Nonono:

This is gonna be interesting. I could see them losing 15" in length(smaller trunk and 911 style back seats) but not sure where they're gonna lose 6" in width. The car is already super narrow

This is my first Mustang and my impression from my 2012 is that everything is pretty spot on. I honestly wouldn't change too much from a technical standpoint. Sure I have mods on the way but weight, length height space, seating, are all exactly what I expect. Especially compared to the the Camaro and Challenger it's direct competition.

I've heard that about basically every sporty coupe that has a backseat. Not so sure I am inclined every manufacturer puts a backseat in coupes to keep insurance rates down.

-Alex

G-Mann 08-26-2013 10:51 PM

Made me wonder if they were going to lose the back seat to drop 400.

More aluminum and better spot welds is what I have heard will play a factor along with the smaller dimensions. 400 is still a tall order.

5HIFT3D 08-27-2013 08:54 PM

Oh no, its a supped up Fusion. I kind of had a feeling. My grandma has one of those and I heard they are making a 4 door too.

Stangmaster281 08-27-2013 09:44 PM

Yeah they sort of revealed a little more of it. http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2015-.../#photo-847781

Looks like a mustang with a focus grille.

Phuck Phace 08-27-2013 09:47 PM

Sweet. I hope it's front wheel drive too.

Right, I hope they are just trying to throw us off cause that is not all that creative for a major redesign. Now an 11.9 1/4 would make it pretty damn beautiful

DirtyD 08-28-2013 08:32 PM

You won't see the GT come faster than the new Corvette. Lol

Those tail lights definitely reveal larger (wider) and more rectangular brake lights, so I'm really hoping they went back to the look of the true vertical, separated bars from the 60s!

STROKD 08-28-2013 08:54 PM

smaller and lighter by a LOT, I am very very interested, despite the mod motor.

5HIFT3D 09-01-2013 11:50 AM

Starting to look like a shaguar. might as well make it a mid engine AWD. Whomp, whomp, whhhhhhhhhhhhhhooooooooooooooooommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm pppppppppppppppp. Would you like a spot of tea?

It looks like a Fusion and a Mustang had an ugly baby.

Gotta love the front bumper with the JDM specific air vents of oversized and non-functional fashion.

I hope they look decent cause once Amy's lease is up on her fusion I'm going to convince her to get the svo one.

I test drove one in 89 that was a last year 86 model......but ended up buying the 89 2 door 5.0 notchback hardtop coupe...... :) what was Hilcher Ford I20 & Cooper....the handling on the SVO was good back then with Koni shocks....6 of them with the kicker shocks

I'm thinking the non functional air vents we be functional on the turbo model. Leveraged as a true CAI ????
