StormTroopers On Going Photography Thread

Hello everyone, my name is Shane and I do mostly fashion photography but I tend to do all different types when I'm not doing fashion. I will be updating this thread when I can. I won't post my fashion work since I have a site for it http://www.shaneklein.net/

Great photos, Shane. Looking forward to seeing more.

JDBishopArts 08-27-2012 02:54 PM

Is this a your work only thread or can other photogs high jack it?

I suggest keep it a "your work only" thread, that way confusion doesn't insue between multiple photographers.

JDBishopArts 08-27-2012 04:49 PM

I mean a "stormtroopers work only" or if we can put our work on here too for the masses. I didn't want to step on any toes.

03MachMe 08-27-2012 05:10 PM

^ just make your own thread josh im sure you have plenty of pics to fill your own thread

^What he said. LOL. That way you know you are getting praised on your work, and not Shane's pictures the post above yours. :D

StormTrooper 08-28-2012 10:06 PM

It would probably be best just to start your own thread like everyone else suggested, this way less confusion :)

Shane, you're awesome. I think you and my old roommate would make great friends. LOL. He currently freelances for DMN and The Star T.

What is your equipment setup?

StormTrooper 08-30-2012 03:21 PM

Thanks man, for my fashion i use the 5D markII or phase1. I have a T2i that I use for car shoots and other things that are not fashion. Lighting Alienbees, profoto and dynalight. Lenses Canon 24-105, 70-200 (my favorite), 50mm, 15mm fisheye, and 18-55mm.

Camera Gear Rental
http://www.borrowlenses.com/

http://www.tvcnashville.com/

Buying and Selling Camera Gear and Lenses Online
craigslist can render some good deals, but you need to INSPECT everything very thoroughly in person.

check the glass for cracks, chips, spots, pits
check to ensure the autofocus works
check to ensure the manual focus works
check to ensure the manual zoom adjustment in and out works
check for excessive dust, dirt, wear and tear
ALWAYS put the lens on the camera and take a few shots. upload it to a laptop and view the results. study your pictures carefully. don't be afraid to say no. don't be afraid to negotiate the price down.

if you're not confident...have the seller meet you at a local camera/photography shop and have someone at the shop inspect it for you and test it so you don't get hosed.

I'd recommend AGAINST buying from people on forums. Even if you buy through paypal, it's not 100% guaranteed. And definitely DON'T EVER sell a lens online and have the transaction go through PAYPAL. I've already been hosed for $1,100.

I catch as much as possible on camera, these last ones I just posted I just changed them to black and white and filled a little of the shadows in the wheels. The reflection was there the lens flares were from the sun just before it went down.
