Tuner?

Are any of you using a pre-programmed tune? I have a jlt cai that I have not installed yet. I had a tune scheduled at hpp to have a custom dyno tune but some things came up and I had to cancel. I seem to not have the time to go get it tuned. Are any of you running bama...etc tunes. Which one do you recommend?

I had a canned tune from VMP when I first got the car. Justin does great work and it was only $50. I went 12.10@115 on that tune, with muffler deletes and DR's on the back.

I'm running a VMP tune and love it. I also had a BBR tune briefly that was mushy and had dead spots in it. Manny at HPP will be doing some tunes on my car next month.

I will be going with LUND tuning

StormTrooper 06-30-2012 08:51 AM

I will be doing Lund as well.

I tuned my own car.

I started with a BAMA tune since I bought my tuner from them. I used them for a while then eventually had TrueStreet in McKinney tune it. Frankly, it didn't make much power difference, but the driveability/auto shifts, etc. were better with TS.

Yes it is.

I think Ill go with the BAMA tune for now. I dont plan on doing any more power upgrades for a while. Ill get the suspension dialed in and then wheels before any more go fast parts.

I would say that HPP is def the best in the DFW area, if not all of Texas. Manny will treat you right and get it right. They are about $400 for a "lifetime" tune, which means that if you add more later he will only charge you for dyno time, not the tune itself. pretty good deal IMO. But a can tune should be fine for just a CAI. GL

I'd hit up Manny @HPP, always done great with my cars

jarheadtex 07-07-2012 12:04 AM

I had a tune scheduled with HPP..and thats what I would prefer to do...but my mod budget took a hit a week before my tune and now I dont have the time or the money to drop on the tune. Now, I have a CAI sitting in the garage collecting dust. I know HPP is spot on..they tuned my neighbor's Harley truck.

Eaglei532 07-07-2012 07:44 AM

Yeah it is a little pricey. Maybe collect a few more performance mods first, then get them all tuned at the same time

jarheadtex 07-07-2012 12:30 PM

Yeah...i could do that....but then I have to fine a good east coast tuner. I have orders to Camp Lejeune NC in Nov.
