Did my First autocross event today...

Yep, I'm hooked lol. Did an event with vorshlag and it was a blast. Got to ride in there 5.0 beast too. I'm thinking about selling my vossens and picking up a set of wheels and tires that would be good for grip, but still daily friendly. What is considered to be a light weight 18" wheel? I was thinking about doing some 18x10.25 XXR 535's and they weigh 21.5 lbs. is this good? Anybody done any track/autocross stuff with continental DW's? Was thinking about those in a square 295/35/18 setup. The wheels would be a +20 offset so I don't want to go too tall and have to worry about hitting the fender.

Lightweight 18 inch wheels is about 17-18 lbs look at dforce wheels or enkeis

Vorshlag has already worked that out. Go to their website and check out the wheels they developed and lots of folks are running. I plan to get mine this spring! Got to pay for the Bilsteins and camber plates first.

I know of other light weight wheels. My question was if these would be considered light? 21lbs for an 18x10.25

RPF1's

no.

Depends on your budget. 21lbs is not bad if its in your budget. There are lighter wheels but there also more expensive.

We talked on Saturday I had the 2012 kona/black Boss I was running DForce 18x10 rims with NT05 tires. Vorshlag sells these rims. Ping me @ [email protected]
Wait until you do a open track event at Eagles Canyon or Motorsports Ranch, you're REALLY do hooked... :-)

Thanks for the help, but I'll buy the wheels myself from whatever company I decide to get. Don't want to pay anyone's mark up lol. I'm just trying to justify paying more than $110 a piece for the wheels I want vs the $1300 for forgestars. I think it's a 1-2 pound differance.

+20 offset will never fit in the rear with 295 tire.

You need close to +50 offset.

I have 19x10 +44 in the rear and they fit good with 285's.

Jucostud 10-08-2013 02:16 PM

And 50 won't fit in front;). In order to fit brembos and a big tire I'm gonna need to be around a +25 offset. I'm gonna get the hub machined down as much as I can so it will be close to a +25. I decided to do 275/40/18 nitto nt05's. Should be able to clear the fender with some negative camber and the slight stretch of the tire.

Kaane 10-08-2013 02:32 PM

i am running 19x10 +44 in the front. Fits just fine with brembos. I also tried 285 tire in the front and it fit fine as well. No spacers of any kind.
