Painting Chrome

I have a 2013 GT which I am converting the entire car to UA Black my only issue is that I have this giant faux gas cap on the decklid that no one makes a black out piece for. Anybody out there ever tried to paint one of these chrome b*****s? If so some tips, pics and products used would be appreciated. Thanks!

Appreciate it Midnight11 but I was planning on keeping the emblem. I am just kind of worried about having chrome painted. I've heard even with using steel wool and a good sealer the paint will not adhere will to the chrome. You ever heard of this? Looking for a good paint shop close to the Mesquite or Lewisville area that doesn't expect me to take a second mortgage on the house to pay them.

It's chrome played plastic. Enough sanding and steel wool and it's just bare plastic underneath.

It is too bright. Black chrome would be about right for me.
