brand new E 85 station in Allen

Anyone in McKinney, Plano, Allen area, there is a new RaceTrack station that sells E85. At least I think they do. Price for something was yellow and 2.74/gallon... the diesel is in green and reg gas is red. so something is yellow and cheap. Its off Exchange and 75 on the nw side behind WalMart.

Hope that helps some of you out. I dont touch the stuff but seems half this site does, so there ya go.

I was kind of surprised when I saw that a couple weeks back, none of the other RaceTracs in the area have it so I don't know why they decided to carry it at that station.

Is there any performance gain from running e85 in a stock 5.0? It says no e85 next to fill hole on the tank.

I cant imagine needing a "special gas station" to gas up my car.. i guess i dont make enough power to need that fancy shit.. i just pull into a QT.. dump in a tank foll of 93 and go on..

sounds like some race car shit.

If you get tuned for it I think its like 30 hp, but you would have to check with those that have done it. Anyone confirm hp gains?

if some one ONLY picked up 30 hp over 93 they are doing it wrong.

e85 should make almost the same power as c16.. thats the whole draw of it.. thats why the supra love it..

I looked around for a dyno on e85 vs 93 but didn't find much for N/A cars. Seems like FI cars are the ones that really benefit from it.

Oh, thought it was more for some reason... everyone on the other stang board made it seem like a bad ass first mod. 10 hp isnt even noticeable.

For those of you guys who fill up on Racetrack and QT, the next time you are running on empty...Fill it up with Chevron and let me know how you feel the car. You can thank me later. :)

A member did a back to back dyno pull. One with 93 and one with e85 and he picked up 8 rwhp and 13 rwtq. Now on boosted cars is a different story. But on boosted cars its more for safety.

zsommer79 01-15-2014 12:58 PM

Yeah i kinda figured it wouldn't much of a gain when I searched and couldn't find much. 30HP by switching fuel would have people talking.

DirtyD 01-15-2014 01:20 PM

If you went from a stock tune car running 87 octane to a custom tune running E85, you may pick up 30 whp. But if you upgrade from a custom 93 tune to a custom E85 tune, you will see less than 10 whp gained. E85 on both N/A and boosted cars is more for safety because it's a higher octane fuel (E85 is around 110 equivalent IIRC). But you will also drop your MPG down about 25-30% over 93.

Those Supras are also using turbos the size of 2year olds.

In boosted applications, you can pick up 50+ whp sometimes, depending on the tune and what power levels you are at. In stock naturally aspirated form, just not that much more powerful. Still worth it for a car that's not a daily driver.
