Exhaust Rattle

I've been having some rattling issues with my Borla S-Type catback. I believe it is coming from the muffler internally. I managed to get a video. You can hear it on the deceleration the most. I believe the issue is internal to the muffler because it happens more often on the deceleration. I also hear it when cruising around 70 mph and the engine is under load.

Let me know what you think. I am about to take it to the next step and remove the muffler and see if the issue goes away, but its a pain aligning it all again.

I had an issue with my FRPP mufflers on a V6 I used to own. To me it rattled at a specific RPM range, in my instant between 1200-1700 RPM. Mostly it was noticeable at take off. Borla shipped me a replacement for free without need to send the bad one back. Cut the old ne in half and found out I had a baffle that was loose.

Just call Borla, they will take care of you.

Ya I am going to give them a call when I can. I ordered mine through HPP so I need to find out first where they ordered it from and get the invoice numbers.

Well did some more trouble shooting I think I have narrowed it down.

I got both mufflers off shook them both vigorously no noise other than some water. I think I might have found the problem though.

I bought my car 3k miles used and I think the previous owner had an aftermarket exhaust. Well somehow it was up in there with no rear exhaust hangers. Maybe the dealer did it when they tried to resell the car, who knows. Long story short when I had the exhaust put on at Midas they found that and gave me two hangers and bolted it up.

Well here is what the hangers look like. Something seems off. 1 of them looks cut and the other looks normal. Both Ford parts. Also the nuts I took off look the same but for 2. Also I only pulled off 6 which I am not sure is the correct amount or not. I think the hangers were what was buzzing around making the noise. I am about to go for a final drive with both mufflers off to see if the noise is still there bu I'm nearly 100% sure it will be gone with the mufflers and hangers off.

if I recall correctly, one of the hangers was in fact a 3 bolt piece. I can't remember for sure though.

I only pulled off 3 bolts on each side.

When I did mine last week I had 2 bolts on each side. Something is missing though... I can't put my finger on it. I'll go out and look at my car and get back to you in the next week or so.

lol!

If I can get a clear picture of each hanger that should be all I need to know if something is missing.

Well I defiantly was missing something. 3 bolts as a matter of fact. I was missing 2 on the passenger side hanger and 1 on the driver side. I went and sized some new ones up and put everything back in. So far no rattle noise. Time will tell on that I guess.

As for the water in my mufflers I am calling Borla soon about that. I think they allow for drilling of a weep hole if in a specific location so that I can keep my warranty.
