C6 vette vs 5.0

Per Steve's "street challenge" thread I've been curious about how a lightly modded 5.0 vs a stock C6 vette race would go down. My brother has a stock z51 package 2005 vette and I'm wondering how my mods would stack up, both on a dragway and race track. As you can see by by my signature I've lightly upgraded both my suspension and engine performance. We haven't yet got to compare so I'm wondering if anyone else has compared something similar in real life yet?

An 05 is an LS2 which run "okay", but they aren't near as strong as the 2008+ LS3 cars. My comment was steered more towards a Z06/ZR1. A stock Z06 is a easy mid 11 second car with a mediocre driver. In the hands of a great driver they will run high tens - stock. A Zr1 is just that much more of a monster to deal with.

You should be able to beat your brothers car if his is stock and your slightly modded.

I got ya, I just want to beat my brother's car. I was just wondering what the chances might be.

In particular, I was wondering where my CAI and tune would position me against his car...

What is done to his car? Hardtop? Vert?

All I know is its a hardtop with corsa axle backs. No tune, just the z51 package.

It's a manual too

You should have him covered providing traction is there.

I ran past a vette earlier. dey slow

I bet the vette wins. I raced a 99frc vette with my stock 13 gt and i only beat him when he had a passenger. Youtube 13 5.0 vs mexico and im the GB stang. Our cars just weigh too much.

jpgraham65 01-06-2013 12:41 PM

Do you think a CAI and tune would've changed that?

You raced Matt, correct?

If the Vette is mostly stock, just exhaust and no tune, you should easily have him covered. They seem to like roll racing the most, so if you're car is an M6, take it from about 75 and grab 3rd when the horn honks. Most Vettes won't drag race, I"m assuming the IRS is the weak link in the launch.
