Winter Autocross video

Finally got my videos put together for some cool two angle footage. Thanks to Josh for putting it together for me.

That looks like fun. One of these days I might have to build something to do that with

03MachMe 02-26-2014 08:20 PM

It really is addicting. Much more fun than straight line racing and I'm sure actual road course is even more fun, but I don't have the extra cash for the road course stuff right now so I'll stick to my $30 parking lot racing this year

AutoX'ing is a blast! I did it for a number of years with a few different cars. I've been away from it for a while (kids...) but it's one of the reasons I bought my Mustang with the track pack. Working on suspension mods and then I'll make it out to one of the events. Can't wait!!

I recommend running with North Texas Autocross Series. You get a lot more seat time than SCCA

KurvStr8nr 02-26-2014 10:38 PM

Yeah, my experience with SCCA in the past was minimal seat time due to the number of cars at the events. I usually autox'd with the PCA at Police Academy when I lived in Houston and out at Mineral Wells after I moved to DFW.

A few of us will be doing the scca event on the 16th in Bedford if you want to give it a try. I prefer the NTAXS as well but couldn't get off work for the 8th. I'll Prolly do their April event

KurvStr8nr 02-27-2014 12:43 AM

Maybe April. I should have suspension work done by then, but won't have a set of track tires/wheels yet & will still be running stock Pirelli's. Not optimum setup, but would still get the adrenaline rush! Would like to have the shifter updated by then, but it may not happen - work has been incredibly hectic.

Do you know what Snell rating they require on the helmet? Just thought about that. I bet my helmet is out of date...

DirtyD 02-27-2014 12:50 AM

I think anything Snell 2000 at least. May even be earlier

03MachMe 02-27-2014 07:01 AM

I'm pretty sure they are Pretty lax when it comes to that. As long as it is dot in sure you will be ok. I'm pretty sure my helmet is just dot and they didn't say anything to me last time. They didn't check our helmets just the car

donutninja 02-27-2014 09:50 AM

NTAXS doesn't seem to be too crazy strict on the helmets. Equipe Rapid would like a DOT/SNELL helmet and SCCA seemed super strict. The little sticker on my helmet wasn't good enough and they took out all the padding to inspect it o_O

So far, I've really liked doing the NTAXS events but ER is a fun group, too.
