Collector Car Insurance

Man if you guys aren't driving your cars everyday you need to look into this. I just got a guaranteed cash policy for half of what State Farm wanted. Of course if has a mileage restriction but it isn't bad and it has a no racing clause. If your interested I used a company named Hagerty Insurance. Damn you know your car is getting old when you can get this.

1972 Plymouth Scamp, 440, auto, 9", pretty much fully restored, $17,000 agreed value policy, with 4000 miles allowed per year, $276 per year. Hagerty definitely rules. The car has to meet certain criteria though, and they do not insure new cars unless they are exotic/collectible.

I have classic insurance under State Farm, it is for 35 grand on the Porsch which is a tad over market, but couldnt buy one as nice for that. It is about half what regular insurance is on the same car and there are no mile or stipulations about driving only to car shows, or not when it's raining (kidding) and stupid shit like that.

I have Hagerty Insurance on my 2000 GT - I have no mileage restrictions and it's $275 per year. The only thing they asked is if it is stored indoors and if I have another car I drive most of the time. About the same price on my 1993 GT.

Did they have a no racing clause?

I was. Looking at one from safeco that was going to consider my cobra a "modern classic" for 320 a year for a value of 26k if totaled.

It has mileage restriction (5k a year but totally fine with that since it doesn't usually see 3k)

But said couldnt race it. I assume regular insurance doesnt cover you if a wreck happens at the track either tho

Is there even an insurance company around that will cover you off-road on a track?

Correct - I don't tell them I race the car & if the car gets damaged racing I pay for it. I've been very happy with Haggerty, I just send them pics of the car & all modifications are covered (wheels, brakes, stereo, etc).
