Used Mustang. How do I know if tuned???

Hey all. 5.0 noob.

Bought a 2013 GT manual. It has Pypes mufflers. Nothing else i can tell.

I bought it off a small lot in Marshall. The guy said the owner had it tuned.

How the hell would i know??

You can either hook up another tuner from a friend, which will tell you the car's ECU is locked, or you can try and go faster than 155 MPH, which is where the factory limiter should kick in. Or take it to a performance shop like HPP or Gearheads and have them hook up to it to see if it's tuned.

That's what I figured. I've read good things about Gearheads here and elsewhere. Any recommendations for a good shop closer to Flower Mound? Not that I won't travel...

HPP is right there in lewisville, but they are very back logged with tunes scheduled. I would give manny a call and ask of you can just sneak in for a few minutes just to see of the car is tuned

It's not a huge issue. Just curious. Winning lottery ticket wouldn't hurt, either!

Check to see if skip shift is kicking in. Most tuners and tunes turn off skip shift. That's a good first indicator.

School the new guy. Skip shift kicking in?

SterlingStang 06-16-2014 04:33 PM

Skip shift is on autoatics not manuals

Lucky13 06-16-2014 04:57 PM

That would be why I was confused! :)

So what's the deal? What's skip shift? Mines a 13 Manual.

Light throttle it can keep you from engaging 2nd on an upshift, forces you into 4th. Just unplug it and it is no longer functional, no codes. Then it was eliminated for 13.
