I've been reading about fox tachs being off. Is that the reason you went with the aftermarket one on the dash or did you just want it? The reason I ask is I've been meaning to check to see if my tach is accurate or not.

That's what I've heard, that they read anywhere from 500 to 1000 rpms higher than your actually running. Might want to look into that before the car gets out of the shop

I didn't want to put a big ugly tach in my Cobra so I just put the 5800rpm fuse in the ignition box and it was fine. Never had a problem with it.

I'll have to look, I know the shift light under the dash is set for 5800. I'll have to look at the msd, it not easy on my car since its under the seat.

They are USUALLY 500 off reading higher than what's actually happening... I have my MSD provide the tach signal instead of the stock ignition, and its wired back to the stock tach. Its within 100 rpm now on the low side... 7200 limiter hit right about 7100-7150 on the tach. The vert is setup the same way. Much better looking than a huge 5 inch tach that doesnt fit on the tiny dash setup, and you get a better ignition to prevent misfires and increase mpg at the same time.

This sounds like a fantastic idea. Any tech article on how to do that?

Thanks man! I'm still thinking about wheels but the SC's are definitely at the top of the list.

Mark Preus from the other forum painted it several years ago when Kyle still owned it. He says it's a couple of shades darker than DSG. Still looks damn good for an inexpensive paint job.

Run the tach lead to the input of the tach on the msd?

Toby and I had a mutual friend who died a couple years ago. He had a silver 93 lx coupe lowered on Saleen rep's. Your car lowered on the same wheels would look very similar (minus the front bumper)

Sorry to hear that, RIP. I wouldn't mind putting the correct bumper cover back on her. I dig 4 eyes, but it's not a 4 eye and I've always like Aero coupes.

Sounds simple enough. Once I get the car back I'll do that.

u can test to make sure you did it right by putting in a lower rev limiter and seeing where it cuts out on the tach... just to make sure it's working right. it's just one wire, instead of it going wherever it goes from the factory (ECU?), you just splice it and send it to the msd output.:happy107:

Holy crap!!! Hell just froze over. You actually posted!!! Post up an intro thread in the introduction forum. For those that don't know this is my brother and he has had this car since he was 15. We took it from a high mileage bone stock car to what you see in the pics.
