Tire and wheel help, new direction
Ok, after taking the car to the track and not being able to hook up at all, we have decided to get a different set of wheels for the back of the car. I want to run MT ET street tires. What size wheel can I put on my Boss and get the tallest sidewall?
Can I go smaller than a 17" wheel? There's not but a couple of options with a 17.
Would it be better to go 18" wheel and will a 295-45-18 fit?
Or would the 305-35-18 be better, I would lose an 1" of surface contact but I'm wondering if the sidewall flex would help make up the difference?
Looking for suggestions from experienced drag racers.
By the way P zeros stink.
For those who aren't familiar with my car it's a 2013 boss that's been modded by TS and making over 600 rwhp, so I really need some tires that will bite.....
Thanks,
J.Shoot

The 295/45 and 305/35 might have the same sidewall height...? The second number is the aspect ratio, which is a percentage of the total width.

Run a 15x8 wheel with a 28x10.5 slick.

I have no clue what fits on these new mustangs. But I'd say go with a 305/35/18? I don't think the sidewall is going to be THAT flexible with that size though....That's just like any typical tire.
If you want the sidewall to fold, you need to get like a 15" rim (which probably wouldn't even fit over the brake calipers. But you'd be able to run a lot more tire.

305/45/18 mickey thompson or 315/40/18 nt05r is what you need. You can run 15's on the back if you wanted fat n' skinnies.

Still looking
I am hearing 15's will fit and I'm hearing they won't. The nah sayers say they won't fit over my Brembo brakes. From what I'm reading I can't go any smaller than a 17" wheel, which has limited tires sizes to choose from, which leaves me thinking I should go 18".
Just want something to hook good. I'm going with a MT tire. Just have to figure out which wheel size.
I hope to pull the trigger today on something. The next track day is next week, 29th.
Thanks for the input.....

unless you added brembos to the rear, the brembos only come in the front.
so, the 15x8 will fit on the rear with no issues. 15x10 will fit on the rear with panhard relocation bracket.
17" skinnies will fit on the front over the brembos but 15" skinnies will not.
there arent too many 18s that will fit over the brembos up front....that's why i went with 20s, personally. but, if you can find some 18s that will fit and you like, you will have a better selection of tires.

You said back of the car. The 15s will fit fine on the back. You can then run your stock wheels or whatever you like up front.
If you want the fronts to match the rears, you will have to go to a 17" wheel or larger because of the front Brembos. There are some nice options out there.

Re: Tire and wheel help, new direction
That's what I would do. A 15/17 combo in the dark stars is what I would like to get if I go the drag route
