Re: OG FOX Build Thread
I loved my long tubes mostly because they eliminated the drone on the inside.

People run shorties all the time you'll be fine, but it will be louder inside. Doesn't bother some people. Others the swap is worth it just for the noise lol.

Shorties are fine, I made over 700 rw with em and the vert will be near the same. The Coyote swap comment was why I hung myself.

If you do most of the work yourself, you can keep the cost way down. Pull out motor and trans from a wrecked car, use the FRPP controller pack, factor in the required custom driveshaft, and you're looking at maybe $6000 in parts depending on what you pay for the motor/trans (I've seen a few go for $3000 lately). The canned tune with the controller pack would net a pretty driveable 400 hp. That would be a fun Fox!

its all good man, its your car. Its been noted how I feel about "mod's" so I will shut up about it. just a shame you are going that way imo.

Headers are in, things are shaping up. I have one question though. How long would it take to pull the motor and reseal her. And put it back in.

If you just do the "outside" gaskets (valve covers, oil pan, front cover, etc) not too long. The motor doesn't even need to come all the way out for those, just high enough to get the oil pan off. Since you'll be having a beer or two, and will get mad at the car at least twice, figure a couple of hours total work time, plus an hour to chill in between thrown wrenches. LOL!

Drop the tranny and its right there. I've had just about every gasket leak oil that can possibly leak oil on my fox. Got all fixed but one and now I just don't care. It doesn't leak enough to matter, when I finally build a new motor for the car my oil leak problems will be gone.
