That just goes back to when muscle cars were cut from production due to the gas crisis, granted this is different.
Just comes down to where you draw the line between performance & efficiency . On the GT model sure I can see a 50/50 split due to high production #'s. But on a Cobra?

If you look at it from a marketing stand point what gets people into the dealership? the flashy fast cool cars. Fords is the Cobra. now if a sales person can tell the dad with 3 kids that can't get the cobra that he can have the same technology that is in the cobra (ecoboost) in this F150, explorer, edge, fusion, taurus, escape, focus, and fiesta then all the sudden the family car becomes a lot more attractive to the normal buyer. Ford knows the Cobra will sell regardless if they get away from true muscle, as evidence by the IRS and wanting to sell more in Europe, so if they can get better gas mileage, still make a ton of power, and it might help them sell a few other cars as well, I dont see why not to do it.

That does make a lot of sense when you look at it from Ford's perspective. Solid post, Ryan.
