Default Painting Imprinted Lettering on Coil Covers

As the title states. I am looking to paint the imprinted lettering on the coil covers. I want to do the lettering black and the remainder of the covers red. I have all the materials / prep to needed to do something like this, I have done a lot of prep/paint in the past but not on this level of detail.

I am trying to find an effective way to either cover over the lettering while I paint the covers red and then come back and paint the lettering black; or paint the lettering then the covers. Either way I need to find a good means of either tapping off the lettering or filling the imprints with something to block paint. Also, If I fill the imprints with something then I'll have to find a way of either taping around them to ensure I get paint in the areas around them.

One idea I have tossed around in my mind is to use plastidip to fill the letters, paint the covers red, pull back the plastidip to paint the imprints black, plastidip the edges of the letters to cover the red paint, and paint the letters, then pull back the edges of the plastidip around the letters. That or try and tape around the letters the best I can then paint the inprints. Either way is going to be rough to make look neat.

I also considered / tried hand painting inside the inserts, it didn't turn out well at all.

I am open for suggestions if anybody has ideas.

That's probably what I'll end up doing. Mine were actually grabber blue before but I decided it didn't go well with the theme of my car having big red caliper covers. So i stripped the paint off and am going for something else.

Paint the entire coil cover red. Then mask off the coil cover and cut out the lettering and paint that black.

Ya I think I've decided I'll go with the tape around the lettering method. It's gonna be rough doing that. On another note I decided I'm going to take the rough look of out of them too. Going to sand them down with a very fine grit paper and give it a very glossy look.

Just make sure to give the base paint layer ample time to cure before putting tape over it. Lol
