Yeah, you can just shove them into a PVC tube and forget about them, but frankly I'd rather know that my $300/ea tires are losing pressure.

Yes they do. When I bought my wheels, they had the '05-10 TPMS in there and I drove around for 12k miles just pushing that little fucking button every time I got in the car. Maddening. So I bought a set of new ones off ebay when I replaced the tires, and that was the best $125 I have ever spent.

They're all over ebay. I bought mine over 60 days ago so I can't search it on my profile but here is a similar link. Research that this is the correct part number before buying.

Also, Discount Tire (or any tire store) can sync the sensors to your car, you don't need to buy the scanning tool.
