Default Daily Driver

So my grandfather is moving into a retirement community soon and he is GIVING me one of his cars as a daily. It's a turd, but it's free. It's a 1986 Volvo 740 non-turbo sedan. The car has about 200k, the odometer went out at 165k so the actual is unknown. Has anyone had any experience good or bad with the volvo 700 series? I'm not expecting much for a 27 year old car and I assume it will leave me stranded one day. I just thought I would drive it around fort worth until it gives out, if it's worth fixing I'll fix it, if not I'll scrap it.

Pics soon...

Pull motor, swap in 2JZ, kill everything. Those Volvos are tanks.

Don't touch it. Do regular maintenance and drive it till it falls apart.

My roommate in Japan has one here in the states. It's the same year, his dad bought it new and handed it down to him several years ago. Car has over 450,000 on it and has required nothing but oil changes. Yes it's ugly and uninspiring, but with routine maintenance, it will last forever.

It was free and will save a 50-60 mile trip a day on the mustang so I'm happy. It would've been cool to have a wagon. I've seen some crazy turbo setups and turbo ls setups on these cars. Lol.

I actually like the wagons better. I'd love to come across a clean 240/242 wagon. That would make a great swap candidate.

Yeah. it would've been awesome if this car was a 240 wagon.

I like having this thing just because im able to keep mine in the garage now. Red is one of the fastest fading colors.
