I gotta get my cheap set of '09 GT500's powdercoated. They are going to be used only for my racing wheels, since they were cheap, clear brembos, and are semi-lightweight. I got them with shitty tires for about $250, but they guy painted them once with something that won't come off with all the paint strippers I could buy. So the only step for me is to media blast and powdercoat. Probably will go something obnoxious like golden yellow gloss as these wheels are meant to be beat on and be seen on the track.

Local guy in my area will do media blasting at $30/hour, then $75 per wheel for powder/clear.

Powdercoating is great right up to the point it needs some kind of repair. Which, if it's on something that gets DRIVEN, is pretty often.

The only way to "repair" a powdercoated part is to remove it from the car, strip it completely, and refinish it at a shop that can apply the powder and put it in an oven. That's kind of a pain in the ass, especially if it's something big and hard to remove - like the frame of a car.

Just strip them and paint them. Powdercoating, in general, sucks.

Yeah Wade is in The Hillsboro area. Good buddy of mine. Did quite a bit of powercoat for me. Held up very good even did some ceramic coating on headers for me. It is his second job, so if anyone is trying to get some information or pricing and he doesn't reply on time he will get back to you.
