See that's kinda what I figured, that's most likely why the whole range of motion is labeled as 'normal'. Lol.

I guess at some point I'll just invest in a real gauge and sender.

its probably a little low, switch to 10-40 or 20-50, that will help some. My 408 was so damn hurt internally it was 8-10 psi hot, which would be like the red line on your gauge. as long as you have 10 psi per 1000 rpm you will be good to go. idle pressure isnt really important, as long as it shoots up when you give it gas.
