Default Advice on painting

So I took my grille out and it's in the back room drying right now. I put some flat black on and it about to do some flat clear.

I was wondering if anybody has painted their spoiler and if you'd give me any advice or tips?

Otherwise...I'm just gonna sand it, prime it, paint it and clear it.

I've never painted something that large on the car, but our spoiler isn't very big. My car is Performance White and I want the spoiler flat black with flat clear.

My ears are open...

Isnt the grill already black? Also are you using a paint gun or just spray can?

No, the grille wasn't black. It is now.

I sanded it the best I could, sprayed a couple coats of flat black and then put a few coats of flat clear on. (spray can) I love it. Flat with almost a satin finish. The flat clear did a really good job of covering but not making it glossy.

As far as the spoiler I've been told the factory paint and clear will be so thick it'd be a huge pain to tackle. Soooo if that's true I guess I'm back to PlastiDip until I take the spoiler to a body shop.

Yea plastidip gives the same flat black look your going for but if you mess up it can just be peeled off and re applied. Just be careful not to tighten the bolts on the spoiler too tight when putting it back on, otherwise they will just spin and you will have to drill the bolt out if you ever want the wing off again, ask me how I know....
