Default Epoxy Coat (Warning Long)

I've gotten a few complements here and a couple of other sites on my garage floor and figured I'd show you guys how I did it. Mustang related because every Pony deserves a nice stable.

I did several months of research on different products of epoxy coats and floor tiles I used Epoxy Coat. http://www.epoxy-coat.com/

This stuff is absolutely the best "bang for the buck" out there. Everything you need comes in a kit and it is very reasonably priced.

The majority of it was prep work. I cleaned and sanded the floor. I used and acid floor cleaner to remove any oil stains. The good thing about this stuff is that you don't need to get all the paint up but you need to get all the loose stuff that might be flaking up in order to make a good working profile on the floor.

This stuff, like most epoxy, comes with a part a and part b and must be mixed thoroughly for several minutes then poured directly on the floor, spread out with a squeegee, then back roll with a paint roller and sprinkle the flakes.

I didn't use a clear coat. It stays glossy. I did this a year ago and it still shines like it is wet.

Finished it off with some caution tape from Amazon and a few other nick-knacks and fresh paint on the walls and ceiling. Plus I added 6 4' fluorescent lights.

Stable is now complete

That looks great! Excellent thread too. I struggled with what to do with my floors for awhile. I still havent done anything but heavily leaning towards Racedeck.

Racedeck was my original plan until I had them shoot me a quote. I could epoxy five more floors for what they wanted.

That's true, it is more expensive. I just don't have the time to do all that labor you did otherwise I would do that. Racedeck can be installed in a afternoon so that works a lil better for me. But I really do like the way your garage turned out.

I heard that hot tires will melt it; that's the only reason why I have not done it yet. This looks like a better brand than that stuff Home Depot sells.

With this stuff, I just wipe up hot tire marks. I drive 100 miles a day so my tires are pretty warm when I pull in the garage. I had to scrub a couple of times. There are some marks on the floor that are harder to get up from all the jacks/stands and parts sliding around. I go in there once every couple of months with a water hose and squeegee. I use my push broom as a scrub brush. The stuff Hope Depot sells is probably what I spent all week sanding off of the floor. Sherwin Williams has some but they are over priced.

This is the best stuff out there. Looks the same now as it did a year ago.

On a side note, we had an epoxy floor laid down inside our house. The house is a 1962 mid century modern, so crummy remodel tile or lame taupe carpet wasn't going to do. We priced terrazzo floors, but $25k for the downstairs area wasn't in the budget.

The epoxy floors seem to be a great idea, as it is incredibly durable and looks awesome. We used a tan base, white flake, with some brown and gold mica flecks. It's pretty baller, especially when the light is right. It's like walking on gold flakes, lol.
