Guess what showed up in the parking lot at work today?

No, just someone visiting the office from out of town. This is what they rented at the airport!

Looks like a GT Prem with Brembos (Ford Racing center caps on wheels), diff cat back exhaust (maybe GT500), GT500 spoiler & rear valence, Recaros, & Auto Trans (ugh). Has Penske/Hertz badging (faux gas cap and Penske emblem, not the 5.0, on the side). In addition to side stripe is has a single, offset over-the-top stripe with pin stripes. I didn't get a chance to look at rear diff to see if it had track package.

The fact they put a GT500 wing and the '13 mufflers and valance in there irritates me. Lol

So how do the rental companies protect themselves from someone ragging on it or destroying the tires? Do they disable the turn off traction control button or detune them a little?

I don't know, but I figure they limit their exposure by only having a small number of cars and charging a premium for renting them knowing the tires will get abused.

Oh, I figured since it was an auto they knew women would be driving it so they only wanted to replace one stripe after being wrecked..

That would be a hell of a rental car! Beats all the normal econo box bs you usually get.

Low availability, high rates, and I think more paperwork than a normal rental car. Hertz has been renting these types of cars since the 60s
