I usually grab around 25-28 on the highway according to the dash depending on hills and such.

City, if I cruise, I break 20s pretty easily.

But what fun is that? :driver:

DirtyD 08-20-2012 02:23 PM

You rocking the stock 3.31s?

Cabikejumper 09-23-2012 02:12 AM

I get around 7mpg highway

GARS50 10-12-2012 09:04 AM

Best I have seen is 26.4 Hwy to Louisiana. I average 20.8 city, driving 17 miles to work and 17 miles home then 1.5 miles to the gym and 1.5 miles back. I just use 87, I don't get on it too much either.

3.31's are a better gear for a blown car anyways. :win:

Just an update, the new engine is getting 20 city and 27 on the highway. I am averaging 22-23mpg now with no other changes (~18% improvement). I don't understand why it would be any different, but I'm glad to see mileage getting better instead of worse, lol.

This is a 2013 service replacement engine and Ford's latest calibration.

Grandpa 11-26-2012 12:44 PM

Are you sure that other motor didn't have a tune on it?

46Tbird 11-26-2012 12:59 PM

No, this car has never had a tune. I bought it off the lot with 104 miles on it, so I think I would know if it had ever gotten one. lol

Phuck Phace 11-26-2012 01:14 PM

I'm getting about 16mpg average city/hwy right meow.

merlinmol 11-26-2012 01:52 PM

On the way back from Vegas I was reading between 19 and 20mpg, but I calculated 24+ by hand. I was thinking that is because I'm running the can tune on it currently. Guess we will see once I have a chance to get it custom tuned.

DirtyD 11-26-2012 02:58 PM

I got 25.5 in dash on the way home last Wednesday (310 miles), averaging 70-75 mph over the entire trip. No a/c and windows down majority of the time.

On the way back, I got around 23.5, but that was fighting nasty traffic south of Conroe on 45, and running no slower than 75 once the traffic opened up (hit 100 a few times :D)

Rreemo 06-12-2013 07:10 PM

Update - still un-modded, averaged 22.4 on the Powertour taking the tour routes to Memphis....included a little spirited driving and a few decent burnouts.

All hwy on the trip home...using the cruise at 70mph most of the way, netted 26.6. Turned over 10K miles on the trip home too.

Not bad for a portly 3.73 car IMO.

Nice! I bet that was a fun trip. One of the things on my car guy bucket list to do!

I get 13ish on my daily commute and was stunned @ 25 I got on my trip to Athens last weekend!!!

El_Tortuga 06-12-2013 07:54 PM

13-15 in my normal commute but its only 5 city miles each way with a short burst ( or two) :) I've yet to get a good hiway trip.

Oh, Ok. If I go anything over like 2500 my avg absolutely sucks. I usually can get in 6th around 40 barely keeping from bogging. I usually only do that if I'm looking for the EPA's rated mileage. Lol.

DirtyD 06-12-2013 08:38 PM

I go 2-6 normally. Shifting around 2000-2100. I usually throw it in 6th above 45, but if I'm going to be going from stop light to stop light, I'll keep it in 5th up to 50

I wonder why? Lol

*whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine* shift *whiiiiiiiiiiine* shift

merlinmol 06-12-2013 08:43 PM

I skip gears (1,2,4,6 or 1,3,5,6), but I get on it quite a bit too. One problem is if everyone here is paying attention to what the computer says, I am typically 4 or 5 mph higher when I calculate it by hand then what the avg shows on the clock. Also, the peeps not running 3.73s should be higher than that.

Re: How's your MPG?

I tried skip shifting, I don't like the feel when I put it in gear from 1st to 3rd or 2nd to 4th. Going from something low to fairly high isnt very smooth.

You just need to drive a manual trans for longer, that comes from experience.

Coppell is filled with soccer mom's, idiots, tourists, and light after light. For the most part I either want to be in front or behind all of that, given the powerband that skipping leaves you with, I tend to avoid doing it. 2-4 and once we're rolling 4th to 6th.. Try just that.. with 3.73's i can land low 17's, but I have to really try.. I'm more of a mid 14 - low 15 driver.

That may be why mine does so well, my power band is much different and as long as I'm not on the throttle I'm not in boost. Makes it easier to skip gears all the time. Sounds like everyone just needs to boost their cars :head3:

I think I just got a lemon, we should swap parts to confirm :head3:

Having to sit on phone books to see over the dash will do that.

03MachMe 06-13-2013 01:58 AM

I get around 19 with mixed hwy city. Although my mileage in the mustang has gone down since I got the truck. I guess I tend to get a little throttle happy since I don't drive it every day
