Foxbody mpgs?
What does the 4cylinder get mpg wise?
|
Not nearly as good as you might think. It comes from a serious lack of power, so it works much harder to maintain speed than a V6 or V8. My last 4 cyl Fox got around 16-17 in regular driving. My current '82, with the 302 and 4 speed manual, gets 23-25.

EcoBoost swap! haha
|
As stated the 4 cylinders don't do that great. I would look at a v8 car. My last fox with hci would knock down 27+ hwy regularly.
|
Agreed. Not very good mileage due to not being very efficient motors.

I liked the descriptions on the Caprice and the Nissan. The Caprice has some "pipes" and the Nissan has some "performance" done to the 1.6 but he doesn't remember what. Lol.

My little 4 banger coupe I had got 24-27 mixed city/hwy

Buy an early year coupe, gut the hell out of it, install ls1 or similar with stock cam, full exhaust, good intake system, 2.73 gears and a manual... Enjoy 30+ mpgs on freeway.. :)
Or, just buy a 97-99 Vette with a stick and call it a day. You can get em under 10k now. |

if you want good gas mileage, keep it in the light car 4 cylinder range, or a ford ranger/s10 single cab short bed with a 4 cylinder. They're light enough to still get 22-24 mpg with moderate driving. My s10 got great mileage and i dogged the shit out of it. My v8 dakota now gets 20 on the highway if i keep my foot out of it. But thats given nothing is in the bed, and i have i/h/e, cat delete, and electric fans lol.

I like!
|
still debating that one...
|
I wouldn't spend that much on an auto 4 cylinder. If it was a coupe and he came down about $1000 then maybe. Are you wanting a 4 cylinder to later build into something more or just strictly for fuel mileage?
|
I want an auto. Drive in traffic everyday and the constant shifting is annoying

Still looking for a Daily? I have a 97 z24 Cavalier with 98k miles. Runs and drives perfect. I'm thinking somewhere around $2600 or best offer.
