Neat car, but not a T-Top car. :(

03MachMe 01-15-2013 01:43 AM

My aunt has one. Same color with t tops. I need to talk her into letting me take it out

Sweet!

merlinmol 01-15-2013 09:05 AM

It looks nice, but if I am gonna buy a bandit, it has to be ttops... and having AC would be nice haha.

JDBishopArts 01-15-2013 10:12 AM

Yeah I thought it was a little overpriced seeing as it's not a T top. Cool looking though. I'd rock it with a leather bomber jacket.

Yes, the Hurst T-Tops, AC and the Pontiac 400 (not the Olds 403) are a MUST. I will have a fully restored one at some point in my garage. My wife already knows it, there is no discussion to it. lol.

There is a lot of chatter about the t-tops. If you actually want to enjoy riding and driving the car, make sure it doesn't have those fucking godawful '70s GM t-tops. Yes I understand it "makes" the S&B car, but they are really bad when it comes to leaks, rattles, and sometimes picking up and flying off on the highway.

PS, I'd rather have a red '73. Best combination of nose, bird, color, back window, and engine.

PSS, I've been white trash a long, long time. This was my dad's '77 Trans Am SE (Special Edition) which is the same model used in the movie.

I've rebuilt a Pontiac 400 before. Those 6x heads are heavy as hell. It took 2 people with a pry bar to get those head bolts loose.

Grandpa 01-15-2013 03:01 PM

I understand what you are saying, but it will have the Hurst t-tops. I'm not worried about leaks or rattles because the car will never be out in the rain and they won't rattle because they will only be on the car when parked in the garage.

This is not IF I do this, but when. S&B was the very first movie I saw at a movie theatre when I was four years old. The very first time I saw that car roll out of the back of that trailer and park on the ramps, it had a life long lasting effect. My father and I both fell in love with that car that moment.

My wife cringes as that idea of this car because like you, she thinks the car is white trash too. I don't care, no one will side track me from this car. It will be mine. lol.

Haha, most likely it will have a modified motor that will appear stock to give it a lil more power and a lumpy cam.

The rollerbear does fear the triangle. One day the rollerbear will get stuck in the bear trap and be put to sleep
