Default Removed Piston oil Squirters for 13+ 5.0s

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ec0f5OJs9PI

Go to 1:37 and he says that Ford removed the piston oil squirters for the 2013+ 5.0 engines. Why would Ford do that? Different piston design I am guessing. Doesn't the oil help to cool the pistons?

They changed the material of the rod so they don't need it.

Its debated. From what ive read Ford used a coating on the pistons on the 2013+ thinking it wouldnt require them. That being said I think it was just to cut cost.

I remember reading about the coating. I have no idea whether or not it was to reduce cost or not.

Huh?

They're piston cooling jets. They cool pistons. They have nothing to do with rods, and besides, the rods are the same for all coyotes through 2014.

They eliminated the squirters when they changed the pistons. The '13+ pistons have a phosphate coating on them and additional gas porting over the earlier coyote pistons. I suppose Ford deemed that enough of a change to keep the pistons together.

I think they're completely inadequate in protecting the pistons' ring lands. Apparently Ford does too.

Oil squirters suck so bad they put them in the 2013 GT500.
