My roommate has an 01 Z06 making 385 and I have to admit that little rocket ship is quick. Yesterday he took me for a ride and its just a completely different feel that my car. He can drop it into 2nd and punch it wot then brake hard as fuck and turn.

Made me giggle like a school girl

Do you think the 01 ZO1 could beat you in a straight line?

I'd imagine it could being so light in comparison...

I think from a 20 roll it would be even til 120-130 then the vette will slowly start to walk. But I usually shut down at those speeds so its a toss up

I have a c6 vette and a 5.0. The vette is much quicker than the 5.0 but the 5.0 is a better daily driver. I would say c5 z06 is slightly quicker than a stock 5.0. Drivers race vs a ls2 vette (unless it is a 2.73 auto, then 5.0 easy win), ls3 will beat out a 5.0, and ls7/ls9 isn't close.

Of course that is what mods are for. Drive and traction also play a huge roll. I've beat tons of "faster" cars in the 5.0 just because it hooks.

I don't understand why people compare a GT to Chevy so call super car. Should we compare the GT500 vs the vette.

Which is great for a track car taking a lot of driver error out of the equation.

People compare to other cars they see on the road. Yes, stock for stock that is a better match up. At the same time a new 5.0 is going to cost the same as a lightly used vette so it is a decent comparison dollar for dollar.

Yeah if you compare it to a fully loaded GT cause I got mine 2012 GT for 28k out the door. I don't think a slightly used C6 will go for that price.

Depending on market... I got my 08 a year old in 09 for 30,500. Had full exhaust, 2000 dollar nitrous system, cam, cold air etc, and only 16k miles... It made 645rw and ran mid 10s with a terrible bog (wouldn't leave hard, it broke when I tried). Was probably one of the most fun and best cars I've owned, but I sold it to buy my dad's 05 and chase the NA record of 10.1 currently.

You are right, they are mid/low 20s depending on mileage for ls2 cars. You can get nice 08-09 LS3 vettes for 28k. Heck you can get z06s for mid 30s now if you will take higher mileage.

My friend here just got a 2006 z51 vette with a d1sc procharger, headers, cam, meth, clutch, rims, tires, exhaust, custom stereo, etc etc for $26k. Makes 720rwhp and in great shape.

I got my 08 3LT full bolt on z51 w/ 29k miles on it for around 32k OTD. I was happy with the price because it's super clean.

I'd be up for that. I'd like to see how my n/a minimal bolt on 5.0 compares to other n/a Vettes.
