Default Pokey's Revenge

My name is Robert and this is my ride, Pokey - Probably the slowest S197 in the group.

Here it is after coming home from the dealership in January 2013. I bought this Black GT Premium with less than 1 mile on the odometer.

Just marvel at this stock virgin sitting up all high like a 4X4 truck.

My screen name is NAVAG. Not a good one, I know. I'm a proud Navy Veteran and an Aggie so I combined the two themes. Most people call me Robert or some variation of the name like Bobby, Rob, etc. Here is a pic of the Aircraft Carrier I served on in the early 90's

This was taken as we pulled into New York for Fleet Week in 1995

I have been a mustang enthusiast for most of my life. I am a fan of most pony cars with the exception of 73-79 but I like other fast cars too. It started when I was a little kid in the 80's and a cousin of mine came up for the holidays driving a 1970 fastback. After seeing that car I was hooked. While I was in the Navy I bought my first mustang, a Burgundy 1988 GT 5.0 5-speed. That car was the one that got away. Other mustangs have come and gone but I always regret selling that one...
Looked similar to this:

God, I miss that car

The first thing I did, other than tint the windows (Triteck) was lower the car. AM had a sale and I was able to pick up some SR Performance springs for $99. Installation wasn't bad but about 6 months later the car started popping and I ended up replacing the upper strut mounts and then a couple of months later I had to replace the shocks and struts. Lesson learned: buy all the suspension shit at the same time.

End result:
Koni Orange Shocks and Struts
GT500 Upper Strut Mounts
SR Springs
Panhard Bar
Initial drop was about 1.5" Settled in about another 0.5" since.

I dabbled with the exhaust too much. I don't think I'll ever be happy.
First one was the Ford Racing Boss 302 H-Pipe with the Side Pipes and Stock Mufflers. Sounded awesome. I'm a dumbass for changing exhausts. I got tired of holding my breath every time I went over a bump. It wasn't that much louder and you couldn't really tell it was there.

So I added some Pype Bombs

Big mistake. Now it was too loud. I have to drive 100 miles a day and it would drone so bad on the highway that I wanted to drive off a bridge.

So I sold everything, put the stock mufflers back on and used the money to buy a Borla Touring Cat Back/X Pipe off another member. Installed BBK Cat Deletes and it sounded really good after that.
I recently put the cats back on and looking into quads...Like I said, I'll probably never be happy.

I have about all the exterior aesthetics taken care of
20" Staggared Silver Niche Targas

Silver Horse Racing Flush Mount Quarter Window Louvers

Why SHR? Because it matches the hood vents, it is reminiscent of the lat 60's fast back, and peel-and-stick don't work for me.

GT500 Wing

Finish it off with Matte Black Super Snake Stripes from Big Worm Graphics

I haven't done much on the performance side yet because I really haven't needed to. Other than a Steeda CAI and Bama Tune it's pretty much stock. Being how I do so much driving, Commerce to Mesquite and back 5 days a week, I'm enjoying the efficiency that I get from 3.31 gears and a canned tuned Coyote 5.0

I toyed with buying a beater to put all the miles on but I enjoy driving this car too much to leave it sitting in the garage. There isn't much else I can do to it other than make it faster. After two years I'm at 81,000 miles and planning on driving it until it dies then I can look into building a beast until that day comes I'll stick to some simple bolt-ons.

Next up: Brakes, Maybe CJ Intake...

Switched to BMR Springs and added 4-Piston Brembos on the front

Update:
Been really busy and haven't had much time for car stuff.
I've owned the car for 3 years and 2 months and have 110,000 miles. Still runs great even with a shitty Bama tune. I upgraded to a JLT Intake and started getting misfire codes. I added new coil packs and the idle is a lot smoother now and the codes went away. Had Bama update the tune and it still seems to run a little on the lean side. Probably about time to get on the dyno and get a real tune.

Thinking about getting rid of the 20's. They look really nice but not all that great for someone who drives 100 miles a day commuting to work and back. They can be a little rough. Thinking about going down to 18" wheels just for the sake of ride quality. Plus less weight. Not sure about dropping a ton of coin on wheels this time. Cheap + Light = SVE Drifts...maybe

Had a fender bender a couple of months ago but USAA got it all fixed up
