Default Trip to the 9/11 Museum and Memorial

Got the chance to take a trip to New York to attend my cousin's graduation from West Point USMA, as well as visit NYC again to see the newly opened 9/11 Museum. Walking through the museum was unreal....I was only 13 YO when it happened, but it still gave me chills to see how catastrophe it was...

More from this set --> https://www.flickr.com/photos/derek_...7644985233902/

These were taken inside the museum...

Great photos, Derek. I don't know if I could handle going there. I still have way too much anger inside me from watching it unfold live on TV back then. I choked up just looking at some of your pics.

It's tough. It's mind blowing and saddening all at the same time. It really hit me when I was inside one of the memorium rooms and I heard someone say "I remember when that lady trained me when I first started to work at the WTC..." And just to know that they were spared from that day...

Thanks for sharing Derek. Do you know what the stairs were from? Like a specific floor or anything

They were ground level, exterior stairs outside

The stairs were mostly intact immediately after 9/11, but they were significantly damaged during the nine-month recovery period. The stairway provides a powerful reference to the survivors’ story as well as a commemoration of the recovery period. It is also the sole vestige above ground of the World Trade Center, a major 20th-century architectural complex and engineering achievement.

The stair remnant originally weighed 175 tons and stood 22 feet tall.

Congrats to your cousin from graduating USMA (I'm class of 2010). Great pictures too. I wanted to see the area again since they dedicated the museum. Did the Tunnel to Towers run once and glad to see the museum open to remind us what happened that day.

I graduated May 2010, so there is a good chance I was off campus by then. As for your classmate, there is a chance I may know him/her but there is still 1000 people per class.

Small world brother.

Well her name was Jessica Garcia. Pretty sure she was 555th engineering brigade, as her major was environmental (I think). She played softball for West Point and was really short.
