To me the cars although close in horsepower are in complete separate classes altogether. ~$50k car vs ~$30k car. The vette sits lower, lighter, just as powerful or more, MUCH better suspension and better weight distribution. The vette isn't light years ahead in the performance department but definitely has better overall sports car performance attributes that make it an all around better / faster car. Of course you could always match a gt500 with one but that wouldn't be fair and the C6Z06 would make it more even and still give the shelby a run in other aspects than just a strait line.

A C6 Z06 is a bad motherfucker. The Shelby would have it's hands full in a straight line, but can't even hope to compete in any other performance category.

Ya the ~100hp difference would give it a slight edge but not much. Shelby is a heavy beast.

The Shelby's need to make 100-150rw more than the Vette they are racing in order to be dead even. The reason you don't see a lot more blown Vettes is because they don't need them as much. A bolt on LS3 Vette will easily hand most 5.0's their ass unfortunately. A 5.0 shouldn't even think about running a stock C6 Z06 unless it's boosted.

Sounds about right, guys on here making roughly that much horse power over a stock zo6 are running very similar times to the zo6 in the vid.

The LS3 cars run damn good stock and really respond to mods too. LG longtubes, cam and fast intake and they will make 480-490rw dipping into the high 10's.

The C6 Z06 is a monster. Most people don't even know how much so because most owners you see with them dont' drive them very hard. A stock Z06 with a good driver (like Ranger) it will run 10.70-90's on a drag radial.
A lot of Z06's you see running high 11's because the owners are trying to run on the runflat tires because tires are so expensive. lol

Do the latest C6s have issues with the rear differentials / halfshafts? I remember it was always a big problem with C5s and that's why you wouldn't see them at a dragstrip... or if you did, they were being pushed away from the starting line half the time, lol. You always hear about "10 second Corvettes" but it is pretty damned rare to see one do it.
There were some really fast GM cars (C6s, '10+ Camaros, CTSVs) at the Motorplex when we went and they all had IRS so I guess GM has done something about it by now.

Yup. It's an auto. There were lightly modded 5.0 autos running around the same times that day too.
